"Your body is the first thing any child of man ever wanted. Therefore dispose yourself to be loved, to be wanted, to be available. Be there for them with a vengeance. Be a gracious, bending woman. Incline your ear, your heart, your hands to them.... To be a Mother is to be the sacrament - the effective symbol - of place. Mothers do not make homes, they are our home." from Bed and Board, Robert Farrar Capon

A Prayer
A while back this hand-out was given to me at a bridal shower. What an encouraging and convicting prayer, and what an incredible gift to all the guests at the bridal shower.
I had this prayer hanging in my kitchen for a long time. The part "keep me from all ungentleness... and unreasonableness of passion of humor..." rang in my head more than any other part. That seems to capture just what I need to pray oft.
Wow! Mary, I don't know if you planned this but this prayer was handed out at my wedding shower and you posted this on July 10th, our second anniversary!!! Great timing for a great prayer.
That was a total coincidence Grace! But Happy Anniversary just the saw ;-) Actually my sister Grace just reminded me of this prayer and we scanned in the hand-out from your shower. Thanks again!
Amen.

ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder. What an edifying way to think about my husband.
